Chris Martin Falls Right Through Trap Door During Performance

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin suffered a nasty fall through a trap door on stage during a concert in Melbourne.

Fan-captured video surfaced Sunday showing the singer suddenly falling through the floor as the crowd audibly gasped. Martin was addressing a crowd of 50,000 during the “Music of the Spheres” World Tour at the Marvel Stadium when he spoke into the microphone, took a few steps backwards and fell into a gaping hole in the floor.

A pair of hands appeared from the hole just moments before Martin fell in an apparent attempt to catch him. The seven-time Grammy winner managed to get back onto the stage with the help of a hidden crew member after stumbling through the opening, assuaging fans’ concerns over any potential injuries.

“That’s, uh, not planned, thank you for catching me,” Martin said as he recovered from the fall.

“Thank you, guys, holy shit,” he said while gesturing to the crew member and returning to his previous position on stage.

Martin seemingly shook the fall off quickly and did not appear to need any medical assistance.

He later poked fun at the incident, saying it would “probably be a YouTube moment.” (RELATED: Olivia Rodrigo Falls Through Stage Floor In Shocking On-Stage Moment)

Coldplay will stop next in Sydney for the “Music of the Spheres” World Tour before heading to New Zealand. The band has been touring since March, 2022 and is scheduled to continue until September, 2025, according to The Guardian.
