CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan claimed Friday that left-wing violence was not comparable to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol Building or other violence from the “extreme right,” despite a rash of attacks on Tesla owners and two unsuccessful assassination attempts on President Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign.

O’Sullivan appeared on “CNN News Central” to promote a special titled “MisinfoNation: Extreme America” that will air Sunday at 8:00 p.m. EDT Time. O’Sullivan discussed the 1995 bombing of the Alfred C. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, before claiming similar violence didn’t come from the left. “I guess what we’re looking at here is obviously, you know, when it comes to extremism in this country, I mean, the issue very much so is on the right, on the far-right, from, you know, from Charlottesville to January 6th,” O’Sullivan told guest host Jessica Dean. “There isn’t exactly an equivalent on the left in this moment.”

Vandalism directed at Tesla, the company Senior White House Elon Musk serves as CEO of, has spiked due to Musk’s involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Attorney General Pam Bondi announced charges against three vandals that targeted Tesla that could lead to prison sentences of up to 20 years.

“Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars,” Bondi said in a March 20 Justice Department release.

O’Sullivan also ignored the two attempts on Trump’s life during the 2024 presidential campaign, one during a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the other on Sept.15 while Trump was playing a round of golf in Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, who was charged with the September 15 attempted assassination, declared his intent for Trump’s death in a letter, according to legal filings.Uivelent’:
