It’s becoming more obvious with each passing day that President Donald Trump was right about the dangers of illegal immigration from the jump. Even before he became a candidate for president in 2015, Trump has been repeating the signature line, “We have no country if we have no border” because it’s fundamental to our survival. Some used to describe this language as hyperbole, but not anymore.
When career politicians on both sides of aisle were advocating for a so-called pathway to citizenship and amnesty, Trump was railing about the importance of national sovereignty, strong border security and insisting certain benchmarks are met in order to gain entry into our country. For President Trump, adopting a policy that says no one who hates America and what it stands for should be allowed to come here is simply a matter of common sense. Considering the recent antisemitic terrorist attacks and the dramatic increase in antisemitism around the country and on college campuses in particular, it’s time for a reset. Individuals who want to come to the United States should not only pledge allegiance to America but must also assimilate into our society by learning English and studying our great history and system of government. Part of this process is understanding the difference between good and evil. If someone can’t condemn Hamas terrorists and the atrocities they perpetrated on the State of Israel on October 7, 2023, they shouldn’t be allowed into our country. And if someone is here on a visa and committed to fanning the flames of hatred and terrorism, deportation is a necessity.
While President Trump is rightly focused on these critically important issues, we must never forget that America is facing this unprecedented national security threat from individuals around the world who have been allowed to make their way into the interior of our country because of the failed leadership of former President Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Whether it’s terrorists from the Middle East, gang members from Venezuela, or spies from Communist China, the American people are now seeing with their own eyes the mess that an open border has brought to our country.
When our fantastic Border Czar Tom Homan says that a 9/11-style terrorist attack is “coming,” believe him. Millions upon millions of illegal immigrants entered our country over a four-year period – including two million completely unvetted “gotaways” who the U.S. government knows nothing about – so Homan is just being frank about where things stand. Let’s face it, less than twenty-five years after the Islamic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, to knowingly allow a massive security lapse such as this is criminal. In fact, there ought to be a grand jury investigation to get to the bottom of exactly what happened with our border during the Biden Administration.
Simultaneously, President Trump, Border Czar Homan, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and FBI Director Kash Patel must be given additional resources and tools to speed up deportations, investigations, and arrests to combat this mammoth threat. The good news is that Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” that recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives funds 10,000 new Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) officers and provides additional funds that will pave the way for at least one million deportations and a vast expansion of investigative and detention capabilities. The recent terrorist attacks in Washington, D.C. and Boulder, Colorado should be more than a wake-up call for those trying to derail this legislation because it doesn’t do 100 percent of everything they want. Make no mistake about it, this bill will help prevent a catastrophic terrorist attack on American soil and politicians need to consider this sobering fact as they try to nitpick the bill to death.
In the meantime, the American people support the swift action President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are taking to confront the festering disaster Biden’s reckless border policy has caused. Showing crystal-clear resolve, President Trump recently stated, “This is yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland.” And Secretary Rubio articulated the details of the administration’s strong policy going forward: “In light of yesterday’s horrific attack, all terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump Administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you.” These words send a message to the world that America under the leadership of Donald Trump means business when it comes to our national security.
The Trump team knows that the policies to fully eradicate the threat can’t end with deportations. President Trump’s updated travel ban concerning individuals seeking to enter America from dangerous countries is an essential part of the equation. Trump was right about the urgent need for a travel ban in 2017 and he’s clearly right now. To illustrate just how wrong the Biden Administration was on national security and who was driving the failed policy, the headline “Biden Has Overturned Trump’s ‘Muslim Travel Ban.’ Activists Say That’s Not Enough,” from NPR in March 2021 should tell you all you need to know about the radical forces President Trump is taking on.
Seventy-seven million voters said loudly and clearly on Election Day 2024 that they want President Trump to secure the border, secure the homeland, and make America safe again. And thankfully, that’s exactly what he’s doing – with courage, speed, and precision.
