The Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs case seems to be getting more complicated by the day amid a number of allegations of bribery attempts and cover-ups.
Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing over 120 alleged Diddy victims, filed a lawsuit alleging that Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, and its high-powered attorneys are conspiring to turn his clients against him by bribing them, according to TMZ. Buzbee claimed his client, Gerardo Garcia, told him that two investigators claiming to be employed by the State of Texas approached him at his residence. The pair allegedly said they were assembling a lawsuit targeting Buzbee that could “get [Garcia] a lot of money.”
Buzbee posted an image of the alleged encounter online.
One of the individuals allegedly said they worked for an attorney named Marcy Croft, whose online profile depicts her as part of TeamRoc, a branch of Roc Nation, according to TMZ. Buzbee claimed Croft also works with Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s lawyer.
Garcia claimed the investigators were pushy with their requests but said he didn’t accept their offer. He opted to sue them for barratry, alleging they attempted to persuade him to file an illegitimate lawsuit, the outlet reported.
Buzbee spoke for Garcia in the legal documents, alleging that Roc Nation and Jay-Z’s lawyers at Quinn Emanuel, a law firm, have a “long history of the type of abusive and egregious conduct” described by Garcia.
This marks the beginning of a legal battle between Jay-Z and Buzbee, but it’s far from the only complication in this case.
Jay-Z has also sued Buzbee, accusing the lawyer of extortion and alleging that he only added the famous rapper and music mogul as a defendant in a rape case filed on behalf of a Jane Doe and dating back to 2000 because Jay-Z refused to reach a monetary settlement, according to TMZ.
Garcia’s lawsuit named Roc Nation, Quinn Emanuel, Marcy Croft and one of the alleged investigators. He’s after punitive damages and alleged he “suffered injury.”
A Roc Nation spokesperson called Buzbee’s legal action a “baloney lawsuit” that is “nothing but a sham,” according to TMZ. (RELATED: Bombshell Allegations Dropped As Jay-Z Is The First Named In Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Case)
They went on to say, “It’s a pathetic attempt to distract and deflect attention. This sideshow won’t change the ultimate outcome and true justice will be served soon.”
Diddy remains behind bars until his trial begins in May 2025.
