I’ve seen this story before as a Dolphins fan, we’ll still suck.
While speaking Tuesday in a press conference, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel informed the media of two major updates that have been made to the roster — one good, one not so good.
Earlier in the day, there were several reports that Miami claimed linebacker Tyrel Dodson off of waivers, which led to McDaniel giving confirmation that the team did indeed pick up the linebacker. Dodson was shockingly released Monday by the Seattle Seahawks despite starting all nine games for the franchise this season. (RELATED: Bears Fire Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron Amid 4-5 Season)
“It was a surprise that he was out there,” stated McDaniel. “So, [General Manager] Chris Grier’s always trying to make the team better and the more the merrier in our opinion.”
On the flip side, McDaniel also let it be known that right tackle Austin Jackson is out for the rest of the campaign following knee surgery. Jackson started the first eight contests of Miami‘s season.

On paper, this looks like a great signing for my Dolphins…
#Seahawks Tyrel Dodson
– Super High IQ vs the run and pass
– Great ability to stretch and seek out outside plays plays
– Great tackler
– Habit of jarring balls out
– 13.7% missed tackle rateComing off his career-best season Recording 8 TFLs, 2 PBUs and 2.5 sacks pic.twitter.com/5rKjIup882

But at 33 years old, I refuse to fall for the hype. I’ve seen this story before. I still remember getting Joey Porter past his prime just for it to end in disappointment. That’s not happening again.
