Don Johnson claimed Johnny Depp was responsible for a very scary prank that terrified his assistant many years ago.
The famous actor appeared on Thursday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and recalled the incident that unfolded. He told Kimmel that he and Hunter S. Thompson were neighbors in Woody Creek, Colorado at the time, and he would often get pranked by him. He went on to say he sent his assistant over to Thompson’s house to run an errand one day, and claimed that Thompson and Depp popped out from behind a car and absolutely wreaked havoc by shooting at his assistant with shotgun blanks.
Johnson told Kimmel the prank wound up being a terrifying encounter.
“I called over to Hunter’s to see if had any weed — of course, he had like a ton out back,” the 74-year-old star explained.
He recalled how the series of events unfolded.
“So I said, ‘Listen, I’m going to come over and get some weed ’cause I got a little group of people here,” he said.
He noted Thompson told him to come by, but Johnson ultimately decided to send his assistant to get the weed on his behalf. He told Kimmel he had not realized that Thompson had set up a prank and was awaiting his arrival.
“[He] drives up Hunter’s driveway and Johnny Depp and Hunter were hiding behind Hunter’s car with shotguns loaded with blanks. And my assistant got out of the car and they both jumped out and said, ‘Die, motherf …!’” Johnson told Kimmel.
He laughed as he told the story of his assistant allegedly getting shot at with blanks. (RELATED: Lily Allen Admits She Got Sweet Revenge Against An A-Lister Who Pissed Her Off)
“And blasted, and my assistant, god bless him, he peed his pants — wouldn’t you?” Johnson said.
“That’s the least thing I would do in my pants,” Kimmel noted. “Is that assistant still with you?”
“Oh, no,” Johnson answered.
“Is that assistant still with us?” Kimmel followed up.
“I think he’s still with us,” the actor said. “I’m not sure in what kind of mental condition.”
