Dr. Dre’s Former Psychiatrist Reportedly Wearing Bulletproof Vest, Living In Fear Of Music Mogul

Dr. Dre’s former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, says he fears for his life after allegedly being threatened by the music mogul, according to a TMZ report published Wednesday.

Sophy launched a lawsuit against Dr. Dre, alleging that the hip-hop star has relentlessly threatened his safety and bombarded him with abusive text messages. He claims to be so afraid that he feels the need to wear a bulletproof vest and cap when he leaves his home, according to TMZ.

He is accusing Dr. Dre of falsely accusing him of encouraging a third party to bad-mouth the music producer during his high-profile divorce proceedings. Sophy went on to allege that Dr. Dre sent people from his team disguised as FBI agents to shake him down in his gated community, according to TMZ.

Sophy provided Dr. Dre André (Romelle Young) and his ex-wife Nicole with therapy and marriage counseling sessions and acted as a mediator during their divorce, according to TMZ. He alleged Dr. Dre started bombarding him with abusive texts roughly 14 months after the divorce was finalized. He claimed the music mogul called him a “bitch” and a “piece of shit,” then threatened to make him “pay for that,” according to TMZ.

The psychiatrist said he had to increase security at his home as a result of his alleged encounters with Dr. Dre. He’s suing the legendary music star for $10 million and is requesting a restraining order to require Dre to stay 100 yards away from him.

Dr. Dre’s lawyer, Howard King, issued a statement, saying, “Dr. Sophy filed his suit only after he failed to pressure Mr. Young into dropping efforts to get Dr. Sophy punished for dereliction of duties and incredible incompetence,” according to TMZ.

“These claims are set forth in detail in a confidential complaint Mr. Young filed in 2023 with the Osteopathic Medical Board of California,” King said, according to TMZ. “That complaint seeks revocation of Dr. Sophy’s license to provide mental health counseling to needy patients. In gross violation of all applicable standards of care, Dr. Sophy inserted himself into a contentious divorce while he simultaneously ‘treated’ not only Mr. and Mrs. Young, but their children.” (RELATED: Dr. Dre Reveals He Suffered Three Strokes Following 2021 Brain Aneurysm Incident)

Sophy “was terminated when it was revealed that he was encouraging one of their children to take sides against Mr. Young, even encouraging his son to go to the press with false allegations in order to force a financial settlement that he recommended,” King continued, according to TMZ. “Dr. Sophy has consistently rebuffed Medical Board attempts to investigate these claims, but has now filed this desperate suit while the noose of the Medical Board is tightening.”
