Dua Lipa shared a message to her Instagram page notifying her fans that her Nov. 9 concert in Jakarta, Indonesia is canceled for safety reasons.
She posted a heartfelt note saying she was ready to perform but there were concerns preventing her from doing so. Her cancellation notice was live at 10 p.m. Friday, local time.
“I am heartbroken to share that I won’t be able to perform in Jakarta this Saturday, November 9. I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform, but I am gutted to share that it has been determined that this is not safe for the performance to carry on due to safety issues with the staging,” she wrote on social media account.
The message was posted as an Instagram story, and will automatically disappear 24 hours after it was published.
Dua Lipa made it clear to her fans that this was a situation that was well beyond her personal control, and made sure her fans knew this show meant a lot to her as well.
“I was so looking forward to this night, and it truly pains me that we cannot perform for you all, especially after such a long time since my last performance in Jakarta,” she told her 87 million Instagram followers.
The famous singer and three-time Grammy Award winner made sure her fans knew how to get their money back for the cancelled performance, and left them with the hope that she plans on returning at some point to reschedule.
“Refunds will be made available from your point of purchase,” she said.
“I love you all and truly can’t wait to be back together in the same room with you singing and dancing our hearts out as soon as possible.”
The nature of the issue with the staging was not relayed to her fans, and it’s still unclear what went wrong in the set-up. This was Dua Lipa’s only scheduled show in Jakarta. (RELATED: Fans Lash Out At Justin Timberlake For Last-Minute Concert Cancellation)
