Actress-comedian Sarah Silverman recently revealed she discovered that her grandfather killed her infant brother in an apparent fit of rage.
The famous actress and comedian made the bombshell revelation during an interview with Rolling Stone published May 18. Silverman explained she was always aware that she had a brother that passed, but only discovered the truth behind his cause of death in 2022. She told the publication that she had always been told that a part of his crib collapsed on him. One year before her father passed away, Silverman said he came backstage after one of her shows and revealed the truth — that her grandfather was responsible.
“My dad says, ‘I always felt that he was crying or something,’ and my dad shook him,” Silverman recalled.
She said her father went on to say, “He shook him in a rage and killed him,” according to Rolling Stone.

Silverman said she had always been told that her grandfather abused her father when he was young.
She was also told that five years before she was born her mother won a cruise on a game show and her parents left the brother, Jeffrey, with his grandfather.
She recalled being in a car with her grandmother one day, and being asked to buckle her seatbelt. At the time, the young Silverman said she replied by saying, “Yeah, we don’t want to wind up like Jeffrey,” which resulted in her grandmother weeping.
She said she never fully understood the secret that was being kept, and rarely brought up her brother’s name again.
Silverman recalled being told that something happened with the crib, causing her brother’s body to slide and leading to suffocation.
“But if you look back, there was never a lawsuit with the crib company or anything,” Silverman said.

Silverman said that in 2022 when her father attended her production of “Bedwetter in Manhattan” she learned the horrifying truth.
The musical featured a scene about little Sarah making a joke about Jeffrey’s death and no one laughing. Silverman said that was when her father connected the dots for her between her grandfather’s violence and her brother’s death.
“As soon as he said it, it was like, ‘Of course, that’s what happened,’” she told Rolling Stone.
