Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ son seemingly took over his Instagram account Nov.6, prompting a slew of the rapper’s fans to call out to “free Diddy.”
Diddy remains behind bars on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution, but his Instagram page boasted a series of posts. The first was a video purportedly by his son, Christian ‘King’ Combs, 26, saying he would be posting videos to remind people of “all the positive things he did.”
“My Pops motivation to making music is always to make us dance and feel good HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS !!! 🕺🏽🕺🏽🕺🏽” was written alongside a video of the star’s hit song, “It’s All About The Benjamins.”
Access to the comment section was surprisingly left open — for the first time since the disgraced music mogul was taken into police custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Some social media users lashed out at the message, and commented that Diddy’s son should “read the room,” but others seized the rare opportunity to show unwavering support for Diddy online.
A number of people praised Diddy’s son for appearing to support his father and shared encouraging messages.
One fan wrote, “I pray Diddy regain his freedom,” and before long, calls to “free Diddy” took over the comment section.
One person wrote “freeDIDDY CANT DENY HIS HISTORY WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC!! Better nobody @ me cause imma stand how imma stand on it #FreeDiddy #FreeSeanCombs#FreePuffdaddy.”
That seemed to open the floodgates. More fans repeated the slogan and called for Diddy’s freedom, much like the #FreeBritney movement that took the internet by storm when the pop star was living under a conservatorship. Calls to free Diddy quickly gained traction and continue to populate the rapper’s page, demonstrating that in spite of the serious allegations made against him, Diddy continues to be supported by some die-hard fans.
