Jessica Simpson teased her new music in an Instagram post Dec. 16, but the only thing fans could focus on was her bizarre appearance.
The famous singer looked unrecognizable in the photograph that accompanied the announcement. It was immediately obvious that she had shed a significant amount of weight and her facial features looked dramatically different than in past photos.
“I can’t wait for y’all to hear the soundtrack of my soul,” the 44-year-old, who has 6.3 million followers, captioned her post.
As Simpson attempted to tease the first tunes she has released in 14 years, the conversation in the comment section of her social media post was focused on her aesthetic.
Simpson was seen leaning back in a chair while wearing a silk-like crop top and matching miniskirt ensemble. She also donned an oversized blazer, paired with black fishnets and accessories. High-heeled cowboy boots completed her look.
Some fans commented with concern for the star, while others slammed the debut of Simpson’s altered appearance.
“Girl who is this,” one fan questioned, while another said, “You don’t look like jessica.”
“I had no idea who this was,” another person said.
“Doesn’t even look like the same person anymore, nowhere close to,” wrote another social media user.
Other comments included, “I didn’t know there was a Jessica Kardashian,” and “This is so sad. You’re fading away, my darling.”
