Fans Shame And Boo Rapper Ice Spice On Stage, And We Support It

Event organizers cut rapper Ice Spice’s microphone as she was booed off the stage of her New Year’s Eve gig, to which she was late by almost 30 minutes — this is a good kick-off to 2025.

Too many pretentious artists can’t even be bothered to show up on time to their own shows, and maybe this is the lesson they need to be taught. Musicians too often think they can afford to act entitled, show up late and disrespect fans who spent good time and money going to these concerts — now, it’s payback time.

Organizers of the Wildlands Festival at Brisbane Showgrounds shut Ice Spice down when she arrived 25 minutes late to a 30-minute performance. They allowed her a curt five-minute set then promptly cut her microphone as soon as her scheduled time was up — more of this, please!

The rapper was shamed, booed, humiliated; my guess is she’ll think twice before effing up her timing again.

The 25-year-old think she’s a full-blown, A-list celebrity. I mean, she may have a somewhat dedicated following, but she’s far from famous enough to get away with a stunt like this.

Footage of the moment her mic was cut has circulated widely on social media, and I hope it goes so viral that she can’t avoid feeling the sting.

Who does she think she is? Show up 25 minutes late for a 3o-minute set? Did she think the New Year’s Eve countdown, the rest of the show were flexible? So flexible they bend the fabric of time to her personal whims?

The New York Post reported that some fans traveled as far as 6 hours to see the show, paying north of $350 per ticket to attend. To show up only for the final five minutes of her set is just insulting, and frankly, it’d have been better if she didn’t show up at all.

I’m happy the organizers unforgivingly humiliated her on her way off the stage after the very brief appearance. Performers shouldn’t get trophies just for showing up. She is paid to entertain — she failed. It’d be great if her earnings were docked; that would really make this go full circle.

People aired their frustrations on social media, noting how arrogant and rude it was of Ice Spice.

Many praised the event organizers for sticking to their guns and flicking her sound right off and shaming her off-stage.

There were so, so many stars late to their own shows in 2024. Let this be a lesson to them all. (RELATED: ‘She’s Too Full Of Herself’: Boy George Slams Madonna: REPORT)

If I have to choose a trend for 2025, I’m voting for this one!

Performers should be penalized for wasting our time and money, unless they provide a legitimate reason and sufficient notice when things don’t go as planned.
