Get ’em, Dez!
As I write this blog, it’s June 2nd a.k.a. the second day of Pride Month, and with this being the case, the rainbow colors are in full-effect all over the place. And things are no different with the NFL, well, with the exception of 10 franchises — which has sadly dwindled down from 12, but whatever. And somebody who is with those 10 teams is Dallas Cowboys legend Dez Bryant.
Responding to the June 1 tweet from the NFL when it comes to Pride Month, and in particular a post from 2021 where the NFL declared “football is gay,” Bryant posted Monday on Twitter to express his thoughts about Rainbow Month. “Football is gay. Football is queer. Football is transgender,” tweeted Bryant. “These are wild statements to make…excuse my silliness. I’m going to proudly tell my boys football is none of these things. I have nothing against gays but this is far from right.”
But those weren’t the only words from Bryant.
“It’s gay players in the NFL..but forcing it in people’s faces..especially children..can send the wrong message,” wrote Bryant.
It’s gay players in the NFL..but forcing it in people’s faces..especially children..can send the wrong message…Football is a real community, like the gay community. Imagine telling gays they have to advocate for straight people..they probably would have a problem. https://t.co/5nRrt4n8rR

There might be a lot of support for Pride Month in sports still, but the resistance is at an all-time high … you gotta love it!
