Furcal gave himself up Wednesday to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office Main Jail located in Fort Lauderdale, which was reportedly a “self-surrender without incident.” Furcal was eventually released from jail on bail worth $7,500, per Local 10 News.
The former shortstop, born in the Dominican Republic, has been in trouble with the law in the past. In both 2000 and 2004, Furcal was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Then, he played for the Braves.
In 2000, Furcal won National League Rookie of the Year, making an appearance in the 2003 All-Star Game. After his time was done with the Braves and Dodgers, he suited up for a few campaigns with the Cardinals in St. Louis. He won a World Series championship ring in 2011.
