Police arrested former NFL head coach and Wisconsin Badgers football staffer Jack Del Rio for allegedly operating while intoxicated, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.
Rittenberg broke the news Monday morning.
“Wisconsin staff member Jack Del Rio, the former NFL coach, was arrested early Friday for operating while intoxicated after a car he was driving hit a street sign and broke a fence. He ‘showed signs of impairment,’ per Madison police. No injuries were reported,” posted Rittenberg. Back in the offseason, the Badgers football program hired Del Rio to assist head coach Luke Fickell. His title with the team is “Senior Advisor to the Head Coach.”
Wisconsin issued the following statement on Del Rio’s arrest: “We take matters like this very seriously and we are continuing to gather information.” per Rittenberg.

Del Rio has been serving as a senior adviser to UW coach Luke Fickell. The school is aware of the incident.

Del Rio was the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2003-11) and Oakland Raiders (2015-17) during his time in the NFL.
