Gavin Newsom’s big Los Angeles riot lie

Trump has every right to protect federal law enforcement from Democrat obstruction Trump has every right to protect federal law enforcement from Democrat obstruction

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is in a tough spot. He wants to be the next presidential nominee for the Democratic Party, which means he cannot be seen as supporting President Donald Trump’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants. But at the same time, if he allows his fellow Democrats and their allied open borders activists to obstruct federal law enforcement, chaos will ensue.

This is a tough needle to thread. And what Newsom chose to do Tuesday night is outright lie about what has happened in Los Angeles, inventing fake raids in Latino communities and misrepresenting the timeline of what violence started when.

“On Saturday morning, when federal agents jumped out of an unmarked van near a Home Depot parking lot, they began grabbing people. A deliberate targeting of a heavily Latino suburb,” Newsom claimed.

This never happened.

On Friday morning, several eyewitnesses reported Immigration and Customs Enforcement arresting illegal immigrants at a Home Depot in the Westlake district, but no riot ensued at that location. There was a riot later that night, miles away, outside the federal detention center where illegal immigrants were being held, and it took local law enforcement two hours before they were able to respond.

It was not until the next day, on Saturday morning, that State Assemblyman Jose Luis Solache saw Customs and Border Protection vehicles park across the street from a Home Depot in the heavily Latino neighborhood of Paramount. But no arrests of illegal immigrants were made.

Instead, Solache used his social media account to summon a crowd that started assaulting the officers who had not done anything. The mob threw rocks and other objects at the federal agents. Again, local police were called, and with the use of tear gas and flash-bang grenades, the federal agents were freed from the mob.

But as the Los Angeles Times reports, “there was never a raid at Home Depot.” Despite the fact that no illegal immigrants were arrested, rioting at that location continued throughout the day and into the night. Around 4 p.m., the confrontation was declared an unlawful assembly. By 7 p.m., the mob was throwing rocks and bottles at L.A. County sheriff’s deputies. The federal agents had long since left. The mob then lit cars on fire and tried to ram the deputies. Finally, starting at 9:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office used rubber bullets, tear gas, and flash-bang grenades to disperse the crowd.

Newsom wants to make it appear as if everything was peaceful until Trump ordered the National Guard in. Here is how Newsom described it: “Donald Trump, without consulting California law enforcement leaders, commandeered 2,000 of our state’s National Guard members to deploy on our streets, illegally and for no reason … This brazen abuse of power by a sitting president inflamed a combustible situation, putting our people, our officers and even our National Guard at risk.”

Newsom continued: “That’s when the downward spiral began. He doubled down on his dangerous National Guard deployment by fanning the flames even harder. And the president, he did it on purpose. As the news spread throughout L.A., anxiety for family and friends ramped up. Protests started again … By night, several dozen lawbreakers became violent and destructive. They vandalized property. They tried to assault police officers. Many of you have seen video clips of cars burning on cable news.”

This is just an outright lie. All that violence detailed above between rioters and local police at the Paramount Home Depot on Saturday, all of it, happened before midnight. Trump did not even announce he was sending the National Guard to Los Angeles until 11:40 p.m. Saturday night.

How could Trump be responsible for all those cars being burned, tear gas deployed, and rubber bullets shot if it all happened hours before he got involved?

It is Newsom and the Democratic Party that are intentionally spreading lies to create fear. Federal agents are not, as Newsom claims, snatching people off the street “based only on skin color.” That is pure fiction.

TRUMP HAS EVERY RIGHT TO PROTECT FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

ICE agents are conducting lawful arrests of illegal immigrants. If Democrats want to sing and dance and wave Mexican flags to protest these arrests, that is their right. But that is not what Democrats are doing. They are spreading lies and encouraging people to actively resist law enforcement operations.

And the completely foreseeable resulting violence is entirely their fault.
