Police responded Thursday after Pro-Palestine protesters temporarily blocked Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Twenty-one protesters were arrested by the New York Police Department (NYPD), according to ABC 7.
The protesters leapt over the barricades shortly after 9:30 a.m. and blocked the Ronald McDonald float, the outlet reported.
Video footage showed protesters standing in the road with a white banner advocating for an arms embargo. Multiple activists sat down and chanted “Free, free Palestine!”

“Get outta here!” One of the crowd members yelled during a profanity-laden confrontation with a pro-Palestine activist.
The crowd could be heard booing the protesters and cheering as police removed them and the parade resumed.
On Wednesday, NYC Mayor Eric Adams said there would be a zero tolerance policy for anyone who disrupts the parade. “And I really want to take the moment to tell those grinches who believe they’re going to disrupt the parade. It’s not going to happen. Just as we responded last year, we’re going to be on top of those who attempt to interrupt the parade in any way possible,” Adams said. “And while we acknowledge the city will respect peaceful protests, we’re not going to accept any violence or disruption in this parade,” the mayor continued. “So there’ll be no tolerance for interfering at all. “

The protesters caused an approximately five minute delay, according to ABC 7. Authorities have yet to charge anyone.
This is not the first time the parade was interrupted by demonstrators.
About 30 pro-Palestine protesters glued themselves to the street during the 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. That protest was also temporary as the demonstrators were arrested by police. (RELATED: Pro-Palestinian Protesters March Down NYC Streets On NYE)
