Harvey Weinstein was convicted in New York Wednesday on one charge of sexual assault but acquitted on a second charge, according to The New York Times (NYT).
The former Hollywood media mogul has been in the midst of a retrial since April, following his conviction in 2020, according to NYT. The rape conviction was overturned by the Court of Appeals in a 4-3 decision in 2024.
A Manhattan jury found the 73-year-old guilty of one charge of sexual assault, acquitted him on a second and is still deliberating a third charge. (RELATED: Police Reportedly Launch Criminal Investigation Against Smokey Robinson)
The decision suggested the jury found the testimony of Miriam Haley — a former production assistant who alleged Weinstein assaulted her in 2006 — credible, according to the NYT. Weinstein was convicted of a first-degree sexual assault charge.
The jury was apparently not as convinced by similar claims made by Kaja Sokola, a former model, the outlet reported.
Sokola said that despite the acquittal on the charge related to her allegations, the mixed verdict was “a big win for everyone” and closed “a chapter that caused me a lot of pain throughout my life,” according to the Associated Press (AP).
The jury failed to reach a decision on the charge of third-degree rape of Jessica Mann and will continue deliberations Thursday, NYT reported. Mann said she had “entered a complicated relationship” with Weinstein that was sometimes consensual, NYT reported.
She testified that he allegedly raped her in 2013 at her hotel room, according to the outlet.

Tensions reportedly ran high during the trial and throughout the deliberation process.
The jury’s foreman told Judge Curtis Farber and both legal teams during a closed discussion that one juror yelled at him for his opinion and allegedly said, “You going to see me outside,” according to the AP.
“I feel afraid inside there,” the foreperson said, according to a transcript obtained by the outlet.
Weinstein, who did not testify during the proceedings, requested to address the court before the verdict was handed down and called for the trial to end, the AP reported.
“My life is on the line, and you know what? It’s not fair,” Weinstein reportedly said. “It’s time, it’s time, it’s time, it’s time to say this trial is over.”
Weinstein was previously convicted in 2020 in Los Angeles, California, on separate charges of rape and sexual assault. He was sentenced to over 16 years in prison.
Melinda Katz, the district attorney for Queens, New York, said in August 2024 that Weinstein would serve his time in California first, according to NYT.
Weinstein denies raping or sexually assaulting anyone.
