God is good! God is great!
Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden was recently picked by the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 NFL Draft, and when he walked out of the green room, he was welcomed to a thunderous applause from the hometown fans.
To Golden, it all feels like a dream.
“Just the way it happened, I feel like God made it happen like that for a reason. That’s something that’s going to stick with me forever,” said Golden to Fox News Digital. (RELATED: Philadelphia Eagles Trying Again To Transform Rugby Superstar Into Football Player)
When it comes to his thoughts regarding his moment on draft day, it says it all when he brings up his faith, showing how much it’s played a significant role throughout his life and football career.
Originally from Houston, Texas, the former Longhorn stated that he “grew up in the church house,” learning at six years old how to play the drums.
Both faith and family have gotten Golden to the NFL, and he’ll be the first to tell you that he wouldn’t be where he is now without both.
“There were times adversity did hit me and God was the one who was there for me,” explained Golden. “There were times people doubted me, and I did want to give up sometimes. But going back to God, he definitely helped me get here.”
