Former Gov. Mike Huckabee suggested President-elect Donald Trump “doesn’t need Joe Biden’s help” by way of a pardon from the indictments against him.
A week has passed since the president announced he was pardoning his son Hunter of federal gun and tax fraud convictions, including those offenses he “may have committed or taken part in” dating back to 2014. The move has divided the Democratic Party, and prompted former Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) to suggest that Biden also pardon Trump, but Huckabee disagreed with the sentiment on Newsmax News In-Depth Saturday.

“But the fact is, the state charges in New York are the ones that are still being held. It’s not the federal charges. Those are all pretty much dropped,” Huckabee explained. “So I wish that they would all be dropped, because they’re all nonsense. But I think President Trump’s got to continue to fight them and get them dismissed on appeal. He doesn’t need Joe Biden’s help to do that. I think the law is on his side, and he will ultimately prevail.”

Huckabee spoke as a member of Trump’s administration since he was announced as the president-elect’s pick for the ambassadorship to Israel.
Less than three weeks after Trump bested Vice President Kamala Harris in the Nov. 5 elections, special prosecutor Jack Smith dismissed his case that centered on Trump’s actions on January 6, 2021, and his case of Trump’s handling of classified documents. Even though Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records stands, Judge Juan Merchan opted to indefinitely postpone his sentencing.

A Supreme Court ruling granting Trump some presidential immunity prompted Trump’s lawyers to call to dismiss the case of election interference against him in Georgia. Their filing has yet to be ruled on by the Court of Appeals. Trump pleaded not guilty in every trial.
Meanwhile, Hunter Biden was convicted of lying on a federal form about his drug use to purchase a revolver, submitting a false statement into a federal record, and unlawfully possessing the firearm for 11 days. He also pleaded guilty to three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses.
