‘I’m Not F*cking Lying’: Josh Brolin Makes Wild Confession About His Nicotine Addiction

Actor Josh Brolin is a fiend for St. Nic.

Brolin is a former smoker and appeared on a GQ cover back in 2007, puffing on a cig, stirring up a backlash among readers over his tobacco use. He has since quit ripping cowboy killers, but in a Thursday interview with comedian Marc Maron, the 56-year-old Brolin admitted that he uses Zyn nicotine pouches 24/7, even while unconscious and sleeping. “I have a pouch in my lip, and I’m not fucking lying, 24 hours a day,” he said on Maron’s “WTF” podcast. “Then I started taking them out and putting them on the bedside table …

“My wife would hear this in the middle of the night,” he went on to say, popping open a Zyn container. “I don’t even know I’m doing it. I’m asleep.”

Brolin told Maron he takes extra precautions to make sure his young children stay far away from his addictive lip pillows.

“My kid would pick it up at 2 years old, which is really — maybe there’s not any nicotine, maybe there’s not any danger, but if she puts it in her mouth, she’s gonna get sick,” he said. “And instead of stopping, I try and teach them, ‘Don’t do that. Stay away from Daddy’s shit. Daddy needs that.’”

The actor also detailed a hysterical story about his trip to Jordan, during which a local merchant sold him 40mg nicotine pouches. To put that into perspective, most Americans use 3mg or 6mg Zyns. Very few tanks out there can handle a dose higher than six regularly. “We’re in Jordan, and he comes up to me, and he says, ‘I have some,’ and it has a skull and crossbones on the top, and it’s 40-milligram packets. And I said, ‘I can’t do that,’” Brolin said.

Brolin changed his mind, however, because he only had a few more tins of his regular pouches left.

“I stick the thing in my mouth for no more, and I swear to God on my kids, for no more than 20 seconds, and I had to cancel dinner that night,” he said. “I literally was shitting my brains out.”

Brolin is a savage for popping lip pillows unconscious in his sleep, but he’s not savage enough to handle a 40mg Middle Eastern suicide bomber blowing a hole in his upper right gums. I give him credit for even trying it, as I can barely handle a sixer.
