Now we’re cookin’!
President-elect Donald Trump and International Olympics Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach will be working as a team on the first Summer Olympics in the United States since 1996 when they were held in Atlanta. Prior to Thursday, Bach had expressed his concern regarding a partnership with Trump after their 2017 exchange that got quite tense.
Fast forward to now, and Bach is now praising Trump, doing so while speaking about their first conversation together since Trump claimed victory in the 2024 election.
“We are very confident there with regard to the steps and efforts being undertaken,” said Bach at a press conference following an IOC executive board meeting that took place in Lausanne, Switzerland. “We saw also that President-elect Trump repeatedly declared his support for the games, which we never had any doubt because he has declared this support from the very beginning.” (RELATED: Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Who Had ‘I Love Jesus’ Written On LGBT Armband, Speaks Out)
In addition, Bach stated that Olympic officials are “very confident and relaxed” when it comes to working with the 45th and 47th president.
The first interaction between Trump and Bach was back in June 2017 when the two met at the White House to speak about the United States’ bid to put the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, something that Trump has taken credit for. With that being said, Bach wasn’t the biggest fan of Trump after the fact.
“Pray for our world,” Bach said while on a phone call, despite getting a deal done with Trump.
And now he’s a fan! Amazing how things have changed!
