Jamie Foxx broke his silence in a social media post Sunday after someone allegedly hurled a glass at him in a restaurant, causing an injury to his mouth that required stitches.
Foxx was was celebrating his 57th birthday at Beverly Hills restaurant Mr. Chow Dec. 13 when he was hit in the face with the glass, a witness told TMZ. Law enforcement sources reported they were called to the restaurant at approximately 10 p.m. in response to a report that a fight had broken out at the venue.
A witness said customers at another table were acting inappropriately toward Foxx and he requested that they stop as his family was present. That’s when someone at that table allegedly threw the glass at him. Foxx’s spokesperson later confirmed to TMZ that he was involved in the incident.
“He had to get stitches and is recovering,” the spokesperson told TMZ.
“The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department said it learned of a possible assault with a deadly weapon, but deemed the allegation unsubstantiated, according to ABC News.
“Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between parties,” a department news release said.
“The BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No arrests were made,” the release continued.
Foxx took to Instagram on Sunday to thank those who expressed concern for him after the incident.
He shared an image with the words: “The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
He captioned the post: “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright… and huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by ‘What Had Happened Was’ … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul…” (RELATED: ‘Woke Up In A Wheelchair’: Jamie Foxx Reveals Mystery Illness)
