Down goes Liberty! Down goes Liberty!
Kennesaw State quarterback Davis Bryson put up a touchdown on the stat sheet, running backs Qua Ashley and Michael Benefield punched in a score each, and the Owls pulled off a mammoth upset to take out undefeated Liberty in a 27-24 thriller Wednesday night.
The win ended the Flames‘ streak of 17 regular season victories, which was the longest in the nation, and also earned Kennesaw State their first FBS win in program history. (RELATED: SEC Slams Texas With $250,000 Fine After Fans Litter Field With Debris During Defeat To Georgia)
It’s the first time in 23 years that a team with an 0-5 (or worse) record beat a squad with a 5-0 record (or better).
To put the loss further into perspective, Kennesaw State is statistically the worst FBS team in America, and they came into the Liberty game as a 28-point underdog.
Monster upset we have here.

Kennesaw State is 207th in the country in S&P+
That makes them:
-the worst FBS team in the country
-worse than 66 FCS teams
-worse than 7 Division II teams
-only seven spots ahead of the best Division III team in the country (North Central)They just beat Liberty. This Liberty. https://t.co/4dMMfvKq6k pic.twitter.com/NpyUNx2hY2

And this is the beauty of college football, ladies and gentlemen, and also why moneyline betting is the devil — who the hell had Kennesaw State beating Liberty?
I wouldn’t be able to stomach this loss at all if I was a Lynchburg native.
