After leading the New York Knicks to their best season in 25 years, Tom Thibodeau’s time as head coach has come to an end. The Knicks have relieved Thibodeau of his duties as head coach, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday.
Thibodeau helped oversee the Knicks’ turnaround in recent years. He coached New York to the playoffs four times in his five seasons as head coach after getting hired in 2020. The Knicks had their best season under Thibodeau in 2024-25, reaching the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000 following their second-round upset of the defending champion Boston Celtics. They weren’t able to reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, though, falling to the Indiana Pacers in six games.
Thibodeau went 226-174 in his five regular seasons as Knicks head coach.
This is a developing story.
