President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Homeland Security pledged to end the controversial CBP One app that facilitated nearly one million migrant entries in the United States during President Joe Biden’s tenure.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R.), who would be tasked with overseeing border enforcement, told lawmakers during her Senate confirmation hearing that she would shut down the program immediately. “It will be shut down. There’s data we will preserve so that we can go find these people. These programs need to be eliminated,” Noem said.

Republicans charge that the program is ripe for abuse and note that the app, which can be accessed by nearly anyone around the world, asks for little information from asylum seekers. If cleared, those migrants can enter the United States and are allowed to freely roam the country until their court dates, which are often scheduled years later. The Biden administration broadly expanded the program last year under the belief that it would ease pressure on the southern border.

Data obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that up to one million migrants are expected to have entered the United States under CBP One by the time Biden leaves office.

Trump routinely blasted the program on the campaign trail as part of his broader messaging against the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

“The border will be sealed,” Trump said on the campaign trail. “The invasion will be stopped. The migrant flights will end, and Kamala’s app for illegals will be shut down immediately, within 24 hours.”

Although Biden promised to allow only 43,000 migrants to enter the United States via CBP One each month, that number has risen steadily.

Migrants who enter the country under the program are not counted by law enforcement agencies as traditional border crossers. Sen. Josh Hawley (R., Mo.) blasted the program during Noem’s hearing as a “concierge service.”

Immigration is considered one of the top reasons for Trump’s victory last November. Polls consistently show that a majority of voters support the president-elect’s plan to deport illegal immigrants en masse.
