Well, I called it.
Earlier in October, I wrote how it was only a matter of time before Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro made good on his veiled threat to legally target Elon Musk over the tech giant’s $1 million voter registration giveaway. It’s “deeply concerning,” Shapiro said, and is “something that law enforcement could take a look at.”
And now, here we are.
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner filed a lawsuit Monday against Musk’s America Super PAC, the organization responsible for the giveaway. The suit claims the move may violate federal election law, according to CNBC.

In order to be eligible for the winnings, a swing state resident need only be a registered voter and sign a petition in support of the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Musk’s group isn’t actually paying any one to vote and isn’t only offering the money to Republicans; on paper, it’s a perfectly neutral drive to get out the vote that Democrats perfected over the years. Also, Musk isn’t paying people directly to register to vote. Of course, Musk and the GOP are betting that it will get more Republicans registered than Democrats, but that’s certainly no gray area that hasn’t been exploited in the past. You can bet that no one in Philadelphia would care if it was a Democratic billionaire pulling the strings in their favor.
You’d think the George Soros-backed DA would have bigger things to focus on, as Philadelphia continues to rank above average in the rate of violent offenses per capita, per FBI crime statistics. But there’s apparently nothing more important than cracking down on the Establishment’s Undesirable No. 2, surpassed only by Donald Trump himself, of course.
With his considerable energy, brilliance and resources, Musk is set to be a thorn in the side of the Establishment long after Trump himself has left the political scene. The lawfare against him is already sprawling, as The Daily Caller reported last week. Whether Trump wins or loses, Musk will continue to be a target. But something tells me he’s not going to back down anytime soon.
