I’m unbelievably amped to watch this tournament.
It feels like Christmas was just last week, but nope, we’re almost in February. And normally at this time of the year, the NHL is getting prepared for All-Star break and the festivities that come with it. However, things are different here in 2025 with the league setting up for their inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
If you’re not aware of what the 4-Nations Face-Off is, it’s an international tournament that will be held in Boston and Montreal from Feb.12-20. The countries competing in the round-robin are the United States, Canada, Sweden and Finland. It’ll be the first best-on-best tournament since 2016 when the World Cup of Hockey was hosted in Toronto. We’ve known the rosters for the event for quite some time now, but it was just revealed who the captains of each nation will be.
For the United States, our “Captain America” will be Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews, which I find to be an absolutely brilliant decision.
USA! USA! USA! 🇺🇸
