Legendary comedian and actor Dick Capri died Dec. 26 at the age of 93.
Capri’s death was confirmed by his son, Jeff, who told TMZ that Capri was diagnosed with a bleeding enlarged aorta that doctors ultimately rendered inoperable because of his age. The famous comedian kept living knowing that his time was quickly coming to an end. He was able to enjoy a heartwarming Christmas with his son, daughter-in-law and his life partner before he passed away. Family members that were unable to join Capri in person in Florida were also included through FaceTime, marking the last time the family was united before his passing.
Capri’s final moments were filled with love. The family enjoyed food from Capri’s favorite restaurant on Christmas day and the beloved comedian went to bed. He died in his sleep at some point in the early morning of the 26th, according to TMZ.
“The world is not as funny today as it was yesterday,” Jeff said, as he paid tribute to his father. He went on to say his dad truly did it all, and noted that the world lost one of the funniest, most kind people in show business when he passed away.
Capri rose to fame in the early 1970s and played many prominent venues, including Radio City Music Hall, while touring with Engelbert Humperdinck. He played in a number of major resorts in Las Vegas and truly followed his passion.
The famous funny-maker worked alongside some of the biggest stars of the ’60s and ’70s over the course of his decades-long career. His talents spilled over to the Broadway stage in 1991, when Capri co-starred in “Catskills on Broadway.”
His credits also include multiple appearances on national television and performances for two presidents. (RELATED: REPORT: ‘America’s Got Talent’ Comedian Kabir ‘Kabeezy’ Singh Dead At 33)
