A partial autopsy reportedly revealed One Direction star Liam Payne had multiple substances in his system when he fell to his death Oct. 16.
The toxicology test results comprise the first medical findings related to the star’s tragic death after he fell from a third story balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sources close to the situation said the autopsy revealed Payne ingested “pink cocaine,” which is typically comprised of several drugs including methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others — in addition to benzodiazepine, cocaine and crack, according to ABC News.
The initial report of the autopsy by the Argentinian Public Prosecutor’s Office found that Payne died of “multiple traumas” as well as “internal and external bleeding,” according to ABC News.
The report stated that the injuries to Payne’s head were enough to be fatal, and a total of twenty-five injuries were discovered on his corpse, the outlet reported.
Initial reports suggested an makeshift aluminum pipe presumably used to ingest the drugs was also found inside the star’s trashed hotel room, sources told ABC News. Further tests are reportedly expected on Payne’s body before final conclusions are made regarding the famous singer’s official cause of death.
Those close to the situation said Payne’s body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy is complete, according to ABC News.
Hotel management placed a frantic call to authorities before Payne’s death, requesting that they “send someone with urgency” to help a guest that seemed to be “drunk with drugs and alcohol,” according to ABC News.
“We need to send someone with urgency because I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger because he is in a room with balcony, and we are afraid he could do something that threatens life,” the hotel employee told the authorities, according to ABC News.
Officials arrived roughly seven minutes later and Payne’s body was discovered in the hotel’s inner courtyard. He was declared deceased on-scene.
The Buenos Aires Security Ministry told ABC News that “multiple substances and broken objects” were located in Payne’s room after his death. (RELATED: Liam Payne’s Girlfriend Kate Cassidy Breaks Her Silence After His Tragic Death)
An employee of the hotel has been suspected of supplying Payne with substances on the day of his death and has been questioned by officials, Argentinian State Police said, according to ABC News. The worker has not been taken into custody and no charges have been filed at present, the outlet reported.
