Seriously, though, why do we pay taxes, income taxes in particular?
It’s looking like the Louisiana legislature will dish out at least $7 million of public money that belongs to the state to woo LIV Golf to New Orleans in the summer of 2026. If you don’t know, the league is owned by Saudi Arabia. (RELATED: Rory McIlroy Proves Yet Again He’s A Prick, And Needs To Be Most-Hated Man In Golf)
The spending proposel for the golf tournament was inserted Sunday by the Louisiana Senate Finance Committee into the tentative state operating budget worth $49 billion. Overseen by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry, the Louisiana Economic Development agency put in a request for the funding, said Senate President Cameron Henry, a Republican or Metairie, according to the Louisiana Illuminator.
Out of the $7 million that Louisiana is putting on the table, $2 million would be used to make upgrades to the Bayou Oaks golf course, which is located at the New Orleans City Park. The tournament would be hosted there if plans go through. The other $5 million would be handed to LIV Golf for going to “The Big Easy,” said Henry while speaking with reporters Sunday during an interview with the local outlet.

I don’t care how much revenue is being projected to be brought in, the idea we’d spend taxpayer dollars wooing them like we would an NFL team is outrageous.
To which I can’t help but to ask … Why on earth exactly do we pay income taxes? What exactly are we getting out of it? A golf event?
I’d rather just keep my damn money.
