We have major developments coming out of O-Town!

The Orlando Magic have gotten off to a pretty decent start to the season, tallying a 3-2 winning record up until this point. And with how young and talented they are, there’s expectations that the team will get better as time goes along. The hype has most certainly been real for the Magic.

And then boom, a massive blow, as it was announced Thursday night by Orlando that their all-star power forward Paolo Banchero will be out for 4-6 weeks after suffering a torn right oblique muscle. Banchero has been absolutely killin’ it this season, putting together a stat line of 29.0 points-per-game (49.5%), 8.8 rebounds-per-game and 5.6 assists-per-game prior to his injury. On top of that, he even chalked up his first 50-point game in his career, doing so Tuesday night in a 119-115 win over the Indiana Pacers.

He suffered his oblique injury Wednesday, doing so in a 102-99 defeat against the Chicago Bulls.

It’s crazy, because I was just watching a live broadcast the other night of local Orlando news amping up Banchero’s 50-point performance, and happened to catch it after the World Series was over that night. As a Florida man, I thought it was pretty cool and was curious to see how he was gonna do as things went along, especially with how young Orlando is.

Unfortunately, that hype didn’t last long, but at least this is only going to last a month and some change — it could be much worse.
