Martha Stewart made it pretty clear that she wasn’t too fond of Drew Barrymore’s stroking during her guest appearance on her show Tuesday.
A video clip of the incredibly cringey moment on “The Drew Barrymore Show” was circulated by TMZ and showed Barrymore stroking Stewart’s arm relentlessly while trying to coax her to share more information. She sat incredibly close to Stewart and eerily touched her mouth while asking the lifestyle guru if there’s anything that makes her feel “soft and gooey.” It got worse, and Stewart ended up physically pushing her away.
The very awkward video footage showed Barrymore talking closely to Stewart, with very little distance between their faces. Stewart began by trying to remain focused and seemed unaffected at first, but things quickly took a turn.
Stewart seemed genuinely confused and caught off guard by Barrymore’s “soft and gooey” question and took a moment to respond. Barrymore shoved her finger into her mouth and bit down with an odd expression on her face.
While Stewart sat in silence for a brief moment, Barrymore filled in the gap by saying “soft and gooey treatment. When you’re treated like a lady …” She then began to stroke Stewart’s arm repeatedly.
“When someone comes in and —” she continued to say, but before she could complete her sentence, Stewart had already decided she had had enough. She put out her hand and pushed Barrymore away from her.
“You’re the wrong gender” Stewart told Barrymore as the hostess fell backward onto the couch in a dramatic fashion. (RELATED: Drew Barrymore Forcibly Caresses Oprah Winfrey In Cringey Video)
Barrymore’s touchy-feely interview style was clearly not a good match for Stewart, and this wasn’t the first time she appeared to be intimate with a guest. Some felt her interview with Oprah Winfrey in December 2023 was also out of line, although Winfrey went on to defend Barrymore and didn’t publicly complain about the incident.
“I was not uncomfortable at all,” the TV personality said, TMZ reported in December. “I’ve never seen her do that, but I thought it was endearing.”
