More than half of Republican voters concerned about ballot tampering

More than half of Republican voters concerned about ballot tampering More than half of Republican voters concerned about ballot tampering

Republicans expressed the greatest concern about ballot tampering this election cycle, according to a new poll.

A YouGov survey found that 55% of likely Republican voters think it’s “very or somewhat likely” that election workers will tamper with ballots compared to 34% of independent voters and 28% of Democrats.

Although Republicans disproportionately feared ballot tampering, only 27% of all those surveyed said they thought attempts to tamper with ballots would be successful. And 42% said it was “not very or not at all likely.”

While 80% of Democrats say they trust election workers to administer free and fair elections, just 47% of Republicans said the same, according to the poll.

Former President Donald Trump stirred concerns of voter fraud and ballot tampering ahead of the 2020 general election, given the high volume of voters casting their ballots by mail.

When President Joe Biden was named the winner, Trump disputed the results, with a large number of Republicans backing him. However, no widespread evidence of voter tampering or fraud was ever found.
