People are peeved about the trigger warning that flashes ahead of the movie “Wicked,” warning about discrimination against people with green skin.
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) felt it necessary to caution viewers that a green-skinned woman named Elphaba gets mocked in the film, prompting many people to push back against the absurd wokeness. Surely this governing board understands people with green skin don’t actually exist and we can safely skip past this odd example of over-sensitivity.
“A green-skinned woman is mocked, bullied and humiliated because of her skin color. A disabled woman in a wheelchair is treated in a condescending manner by able-bodied people. Talking animals are persecuted in a fantastical society,” the trigger warning reads, according to TMZ.
The woke agenda has gone way too far with this one. It’s shocking to think people should be warned about discrimination against a skin color that doesn’t even exist. The thought of concerning ourselves with the feelings of the talking animals in the film is another example of how far-fetched the woke mentality has extended itself.
The BBFC system to review movies is rightfully in place to advise parents of graphic nudity, violence, injuries, actual discrimination and additional categories, none of which appear here when a movie is being evaluated without lenses tinted by woke culture.
Social media users have taken to using the hashtag “GoWokeGoBroke” and are decrying the unnecessary caution.
Piers Morgan is among those who aired their grievances. “For the love of God… can the woke brigade please just f*ck off with this nonsense. 🙄🤬,” he wrote Thursday on Instagram.
“We’ve reached peak absurdity. The Wicked musical now comes with a trigger warning for Elphaba’s green skin. Apparently, the fictional pigmentation of a made-up witch might offend someone, somewhere,” an account named David Crabb UK posted on X.

The trigger warning doesn’t precede the movie in American theaters, according to TMZ. (RELATED: Transgender Women Infiltrated The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show)
“Wicked,” starring Ariana Grande, has been a box office hit and is expected to rake in $242 million by the first weekend in December, which would make it the most profitable film based on a musical.
