Wrong move, Adam Silver. Wrong move.
Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has been slapped with a three-game suspension by the NBA after he pushed a columnist Saturday night during a heated postgame altercation, according to an announcement Tuesday from the league. “Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA,” stated Joe Dumars, the NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations. “While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter’s column, interaction must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical.”
After the Sixers‘ defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies at Wells Fargo Center, Embiid confronted the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Marcus Hayes. The Philly big-man was irritated with a column that Hayes had done recently about Embiid’s issues with injuries. And while that’s all fine and dandy, something that Embiid even said was okay to do, Hayes just went too far when he brought up both his son and dead brother.

Absolutely ridiculous decision by Adam Silver and the NBA to suspend Embiid. They should’ve just swept it under the rug and moved on.
And don’t take it from me, take it from my Twitter followers:
Embiid deserved better here…. https://t.co/4KEvgOqPzb

Massive L, that reporter attacked his family and blamed Embiid’s dead brother. He deserved to lose his front teeth, not just a shove.

Now I’m not personally asking for violence, but I can understand people’s irritations … all I’m saying is: the NBA should’ve just looked the other way.
