Nikki Glaser’s epic Golden Globes opening monologue took aim at power systems in Hollywood by, in part, jabbing at Diddy and poking fun at the stars in the crowd.
The Jan. 5 awards show was kept alive by Glaser’s well-targeted and perfectly delivered zingers. The hits came fast and furious, but Glaser was sharp enough to know not to spend too much time slamming any singular star. She took aim at all the headline-grabbing, contentious moments that unfolded in 2024 with perfect precision and the star-studded crowd at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California, ate it all up.

The first-time Golden Globe host opened her monologue with a nod to the weight-loss drug that took the world by storm, calling the evening “Ozempic’s biggest night.”
She then commended Zendaya for her role in “Challengers,” which follows a tennis star caught in a love triangle with her husband and ex-boyfriend, and tied it in perfectly with one of the biggest stories from the entertainment industry – the arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Referencing “Challengers,” Glaser said, “that movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card. I know, sorry … I’m upset, too. The after-party isn’t going to be as good,” she said, as she noted that “‘Stanley Tucci freak offs’ doesn’t have the same ring” to it. She took a shot at Tucci, suggesting he would be the new host now, before she said, “no baby oil this year, just olive oil.”
Glaser rattled off a list of some of the films nominated for awards that evening, before taking her next shot.
“Wicked,” “Queer,” “Nightbitch” … these are not just words Ben Affleck yells when he orgasms,” Glaser said.
The sexual theme continued when Glaser commended Nicole Kidman on her performance in “Babygirl.” Referencing Kidman’s erotic scenes, Glaser said, “I give it two fingers up, it’s so good.”
The comedian lightly roasted several stars in the crowd with the perfect blend of humor and efficiency.
“You have the most gorgeous eyelashes on your upper lip, this is such a good look,” she told Timothée Chalamet about his mustache. (RELATED: Celebrities Wore Pure Garbage To The Golden Globes)
Glaser hit on the major topics, she swiped at some major stars, and she did it all without overstaying her welcome or making anyone cringe.
She can be voted back for next year’s show.
