It’s going to be one interesting night in the Big Apple.
Engineers for NJ Transit started their strike Friday morning overnight, impacting hundreds of thousands of people commuting.
On an average Friday night since the pandemic, NJ Transit usually sees a drop in travelers, but tonight isn’t an average night because of two major sporting events going on in New York City. But given the circumstances, a huge amount of travelers are probably going to have to go on a different route.
One of the major sporting events is the Subway Series that will see the New York Mets and Yankees square off in the Bronx, with a lot of residents in New Jersey taking the train to Penn Station. (RELATED: Ronald Acuna Will Apologize To Braves For His Complaints About Being Treated Unfairly)
Yankee Stadium holds over 52,000 fans, so in other words, you’re going to have an incredible amount of people being forced to find another way to the game. That in itself is a chaotic situation.
But it’s not just the contest between the Mets and Yankees that’s happening Friday night, you have an even bigger game (and tougher commute) in Manhattan, where the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks will square off in a Game 6 at Madison Square Garden.
With Madison Square Garden, it’s placed pretty much above Penn Station smack dab in the center of Manhattan. It’s already hard to drive as it is in that area, but with NJ Transit engineers being on strike, that’s about to get amplified.

Tonight is about to be such a headache for New York and New Jersey… Lord have mercy.
