No sympathy for Joe Biden (or Jake Tapper)

Joe Biden has prostate cancer. He revealed the diagnosis this week, almost six years after promising to cure cancer if elected. (Yes, he actually said that.) The announcement came just days before the release of a new book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson about the extensive (albeit unsuccessful) efforts to conceal the fact that Biden’s brain could barely function. Probably just a coincidence. In an effort to elicit public sympathy they don’t deserve, the Bidens have given us more reason to doubt they’re being honest with the American people. Some medical experts think it’s likely Biden had cancer at the start of his presidency. Did they cover that up as well?

It raises a number of questions, such as: Did the president’s doctor ever examine him? Is he even a real doctor, or does he also have an EdD degree like Dr. Jill? Did they just play model trains in the basement to distract him while Hunter injected him with amphetamines? What the hell was going on? It wouldn’t even be the first time the Bidens have lied about cancer. They covered up Beau Biden’s fatal diagnosis in 2013 as he continued to serve as Delaware attorney general. They even got a doctor to lie on their behalf. Doing what comes naturally, the media have denounced any skepticism about Biden’s sudden cancer diagnosis as a “conspiracy” for “totally online” freaks, which is exactly what they said about his cognitive decline.

In their book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, Tapper and Thompson suggest the Biden family’s penchant for dishonesty stems from an unofficial family motto about refusing to acknowledge inconvenient truths: “Never call a fat person fat.” An interesting choice for a politician who literally called an Iowa man fat (and challenged him to a push-up contest or IQ test) in 2019 after he dared question how Biden’s crackhead son landed a lucrative board seat at a Ukrainian energy firm. Biden denied calling the man fat. His senior aide, Symone Sanders, who is now a host on MSNBC, insisted he said “facts.” The media shrugged it off. Around this time, Tapper and Thompson report, Biden “struggled to remember” the name of longtime aide Mike Donilon, who had worked for Biden since 1981. An alternative explanation: The Bidens are lying liars who lie.

Not a Conspiracy: The Bidens Have a Long History of Lying About Health Issues

Still covering (up) the cover-up: Look out for the review of Original Sin this Sunday in the Weekend Beacon newsletter. The book is packed with damning revelations gleaned from (mostly anonymous) Democrats who waited until after the election to stop lying. It traces the start of Biden’s decline all the way back to 2015. It exposes the extent to which a handful of longtime Biden aides, known as “The Politburo,” were actually running the country while Biden was “at best a senior member of the board” who typically ate dinner at 4:30 p.m. before calling it a day. One is tempted to feel sorry for Biden, who was probably incapable of making decisions on his own, and blame the self-interested lackeys who forced him to run again because they were so desperate to maintain the perks of power. They knew he couldn’t handle the job, they just didn’t care. “He just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years—he’d only have to show proof of life every once in a while,” says a longtime Biden aide granted anonymity to admit fraud. “When you vote for somebody, you are voting for the people around them too.”

On the other hand, no one should feel sorry for Joe Biden, who deliberately surrounded himself with groveling sycophants whose loyalty to the family was “a theology that bordered on zealotry.” Everyone benefited from the arrangement. After making a fortune on campaign ads in 2020, Mike Donilon, a key member of The Politburo, demanded an outrageous $4 million salary to work on the 2024 campaign. Biden approved over the objections of senior staff. Another longtime aide, Steve Ricchetti, made sure all his children had jobs in the administration. Jill Biden got to force people to call her “doctor,” and made no less than three appearances on the cover of Vogue. Sleepy Joe got to smell a bunch of children’s hair and host regular meetings with prominent historians who assured him he was a better president than Barack Obama. They all deserve a legacy of shame. Perhaps their only redeeming factor is their abiding (and arguably correct) belief that Kamala Harris, the most likely alternative to Biden, was hopelessly incompetent and unlikely to outperform a walking corpse.

Fear the Bernal: One of the most powerful people you’ve ever heard of is Anthony Bernal. He is probably the funniest character of all the Biden insiders who covered up the president’s decline while secretly running the country on his behalf. Bernal joined Jill Biden’s staff in 2008, and became “her closest confidant and strategist” on all matters of politics and fashion. He was the only White House staffer who didn’t have to call her Dr. Biden, and wasn’t afraid to “criticize her looks and outfits in front of others.” If he made a request, the West Wing “usually worked to make it happen,” Tapper and Thompson write in Original Sin. He was a “constant source of gossip about Biden’s aides, which he passed along to the First Lady.” He openly “trashed-talked senior, mid-level, and junior aides.” Some staffer referred to Bernal as the chief of the “loyalty police” due to his frequent demands to know if someone was “a Biden person” and his zeal for “casting out potential heretics.”

In addition to promising to cure cancer, Joe Biden had pledged to restore “decency and dignity” to Washington after his so-called election in 2020. “I’m not joking when I say this: If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect, talk down to someone, I promise you I will fire you on the spot,” he said upon taking office. “On the spot. No ifs or buts.” This was another falsehood, because it clearly didn’t apply to loyal henchmen like Bernal and TJ Ducklo, the White House press aide who got a one-week suspension for threatening to “destroy” a female reporter. The Bidens were fully supportive when “the disrespectful behavior was on their behalf,” Tapper and Thompson write. That’s why the Bidens loved Bernal, who was intensely loathed by everyone else he ever met. “As we researched this book, it was difficult to find many Bernal defenders among those who have known him longest,” the authors write. “Some even described him as the worst person they had ever met.” Another longtime Biden aide said Bernal “would not be welcome at my funeral.”

Sympathetic, well-meaning journalists with poor integrity: Speaking of widely (and rightfully) loathed individuals, mainstream journalists are barely mentioned in Original Sin, which purports to “present the disturbing reality” of the Biden cover-up. There’s a single account of an unnamed reporter from a “national news outlet” who scrapped her story on Biden’s decline after White House adviser Steve Ricchetti phoned her up and threatened to destroy her reputation. Ricchetti is portrayed as the villain, the weak-kneed journalist as the victim. It boggles the mind. Journalists who cover politics deal with this shit all the time. The authors concede that many reporters “took the White House denials [of Biden’s decline] at face value,” a stunning admission of incompetence. Tapper claims he missed the story because he was “too polite,” which is something he’d never say about a story involving Republicans.

The vast majority of journalists, including Tapper, saw these allegations as a right-wing conspiracy theory they were duty-bound to debunk. The book makes no effort to explain why this happened, which would have only required a single sentence: “Most journalists believe Democrats because they want them to win.” While promoting the book this week, Thompson explained that even the people orchestrating the cover-up were shocked at how easily they could manipulate the self-anointed guardians of democracy in the press. “We were sort of amazed at some of the stuff we were able to spin reporters on,” a source told him. “You guys should not have believed us so easily.” This quote does not appear in the book. It should have been the opening line.

The Rehearsal, starring Kamala Harris: There’s a detail in the book that was already reported last year but is still hilarious. In 2022, to assuage her crippling anxiety about an upcoming dinner party with “journalists and other socialites,” Harris enlisted her aides as actors to conduct a “mock soiree.” The goal was to practice mingling authentically. They considered serving wine so Harris “could practice with a glass or two” but decided against it, which was probably for the best. If there’s one thing Kamala doesn’t need, it’s more wine.

Eat your heart out, Taylor Lorenz: A left-wing freak shouted “Free Palestine” after murdering two Israeli embassy staffers outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday. The deranged gunman, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, previously worked for a woke nonprofit devoted to chronicling the lives of “historically significant Black Americans” that was profiled on 60 Minutes and received funding from the Ford Foundation and other left-wing philanthropies. Rodriguez might not be as “handsome” as Luigi Mangione, the freak who gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December, but we’re confident that Taylor Lorenz has already started writing a saucy prison letter.

Lorenz, 40, is best known (at the moment) for gushing about Mangione in a CNN documentary series that was nominated for an Emmy Award. “Here’s this man who, who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart,” she said of the accused murderer. “He’s a person that seems like a morally good man, which is hard to find.” When news of the anti-Semitic killing broke on Thursday, the mentally unstable journalist spent the entire day spreading filth on social media.

Ilhan Omar, the anti-Semitic congresswoman, eventually put out a bland statement of condemnation after refusing to comment earlier in the day. “I’m gonna go for now,” she told a reporter on Capitol Hill.

Liberals against exercise: Even a quick look at Taylor Lorenz’s X feed is going to expose you to some utterly deranged left-wing nonsense. This week, for example, she promoted the view that it’s borderline evil to even suggest that exercise might be good for you. Lorenz reposted a rant from a they/them person who lashed out at a 25-year-old for writing “exercise makes you feel good.” Talking about exercise this way, the they/them wrote, “appeals to fascists” and erases the disabled.

Related: The New York Times reports that, in an effort to revive their tarnished brand, Democrats are “hoping to move away from the current didactic, hall monitor style of Democratic politics that turns off younger audiences.” Um, have they met any young liberals? Anyway, good luck!

Smackdown averted: A reporter from Politico saw a congressional staffer “drop a whole birthday cake on the Capitol plaza” on Tuesday, causing many to fear for the safety and wellbeing of Amy Klobuchar’s long-suffering aides. Online sleuths discovered that the Democratic senator and failed presidential candidate turns 65 on Monday, which is Memorial Day, so her office would probably be celebrating this week. Thoughts and prayers were offered.

Klobuchar is notorious for her “dehumanizing” treatment of staff. She once berated an aide who forgot a fork for the salad she planned to eat on a plane. She pulled a comb out of her purse and used it to eat the salad, then ordered the staffer to clean it. There’s no telling what twisted revenge the ill-tempered Democrat might have exacted on the staffer who dropped her birthday cake. Fortunately, the yummy treat, which survived relatively intact, belonged to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s speechwriter.

Senate twink would do it all again: Aidan Maese-Czeropski, the submissive Democrat who lost his job in 2023 after filming a backdoor love romp in a Senate hearing room, said he has “no regrets” about blowing up his career out of boredom. “I would come in nine hours a day, sit there bored out of my fucking mind. So yeah,” he told New York Magazine this week. “I’m going to entertain myself and fuck in a room … In some sense, I fucked in the Senate because I was miserable and wanted a way out.” Speaking from Australia, where he currently lives and makes a living as an independent sex worker, Maese-Czeropski also revealed that World War I is his “favorite world war.”

Trump humiliates random journalist: You don’t have to like Donald Trump to admit the guy is often hilarious. This week, a reporter from NOTUS(?) tried to ask Trump a question after he met with Republicans on Capitol Hill. The conversation did not go well for the reporter.

TRUMP: “Who do you work for?”

REPORTER: “NOTUS.”

TRUMP: “Who?”

REPORTER: “NOTUS.”

TRUMP: “I don’t even know what the hell that is. Get yourself a real job.”
