Grim prognosis: Rep. Ronny Jackson (R., Texas), the former White House physician who served both Barack Obama and Donald Trump, told the Free Beacon that Joe Biden’s metastatic prostate cancer could leave him with as little as 12 to 18 months to live. “Hopefully it’s longer than that, and I hope that they’re able to treat this effectively, and, you know, he lives many, many more years. But it’s far advanced,” Jackson said.

Jackson, who regularly screened past presidents for prostate cancer, suggested the White House may have known about the diagnosis far earlier. “I think there’s a probability here that they knew [Biden] had prostate cancer some time ago and just didn’t tell the American people,” he said. He also blamed Biden’s physician of more than 15 years, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, for either hiding the diagnosis or missing it altogether. “Dr. Kevin O’Connor either lied to the American people or he’s incompetent,” Jackson said.

“The revelations about Biden’s cancer join a near-endless stream of disclosures about White House aides’ attempts to hide the former president’s cognitive decline. Many members of a press corp that worked hand-in-glove with the Biden administration to hide the former president’s condition are now looking to hide and profit off their participation with splashy book deals,” writes our Jon Levine.

Doctoring the record: The Biden family has a long history of misleading the public about serious health issues—which should make anyone think twice before dismissing the possibility that the White House concealed Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis. “There is every reason to be skeptical of anything the Bidens and their doctors are saying. They have been blatantly lying about health-related issues for years,” writes our Andrew Stiles.

Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson’s Original Sin details how the Bidens covered up Beau Biden’s terminal brain cancer diagnosis for nearly two years while the former president’s son served as Delaware’s attorney general. As Beau’s condition worsened, the family discussed how much to disclose but ultimately said nothing. Beau falsely told a reporter in 2013 that doctors had given him a “clean bill of health,” and the family later released a statement from his doctor downplaying the seriousness of a tumor that was “the size of a golf ball.” Joe Biden, then vice president, secretly flew his son to treatments under a false name and at times instructed aides to mislead the press about his own whereabouts.

The Bidens’ ability to convince a doctor to lie about Beau’s illness raises red flags about whether Joe Biden’s longtime physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, can be trusted. In February 2024, O’Connor declared Biden “fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency” and “did not administer a cognitive test because he ‘did not believe the science required him to,’” Tapper and Thompson report.

Nuclear stand-off: The latest round of U.S.–Iran nuclear talks may be unraveling over Tehran’s insistence on preserving its uranium enrichment program, reports our Adam Kredo. Trump Iran envoy Steve Witkoff declared on Sunday that any deal must prohibit enrichment altogether, saying, “We cannot allow even 1 percent of an enrichment capability.”

As Kredo notes, Iranian leaders have instead signaled openness to exporting their stockpile of uranium enriched to around 60 percent—”the level generally understood to be necessary for a bomb”—in exchange for sanctions relief and permission to continue enrichment at lower levels.

But nonproliferation experts say the terms mirror the 2015 Iran nuclear deal sealed under Barack Obama. Iranian negotiator Ali Shamkhani “was offering nothing more than the terms of the JCPOA, which President Trump rightfully repudiated in 2018,” Jason Brodsky, policy director at United Against a Nuclear Iran, told the Free Beacon. “NBC hyped up Shamkhani’s comments to make it appear as if this was some grand or significant concession that was out of the ordinary when it was not.”

“Despite Witkoff’s assurance that no deal can allow Iran to continue enriching uranium, former Trump administration officials and nonproliferation experts still worry that the president could be swayed into conceding the issue and signing a deal almost identical to the original 2015 accord,” Kredo writes.

Away from the Beacon:

  • Jake Tapper said Tuesday he apologized to Lara Trump for dismissing her concerns about Joe Biden’s cognitive decline during a 2020 CNN interview and accusing her of mocking Biden’s stutter. Tapper told Megyn Kelly he called her “months ago” after conducting research for his new book and admitted: “You were right.”
  • The Justice Department announced a civil rights investigation into the city of Chicago’s hiring practices after Mayor Brandon Johnson touted the number of black officials in his administration, saying, “When you hire our people, we always look out for everybody else.” The agency is probing “whether the City of Chicago is engaged in a pattern or practice of discrimination,” DOJ civil rights chief Harmeet Dhillon wrote in a letter to the mayor’s office.
  • Taylor Lorenz, the former Washington Post and New York Times journalist, reacted to Biden’s cancer diagnosis with a post on X Monday. “Hopefully he rots in hell and rests in piss,” Lorenz said. Asked to clarify, Lorenz cited Biden’s support for Israel’s war in Gaza, calling him a “genocidal warmonger” responsible for the deaths of “tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians, including countless cancer patients.”
