Jake E. Lee, best known as the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, was shot multiple times Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a representative.
A spokesperson for Lee said he suffered several gunshot wounds while walking his dogs, according to TMZ. The Las Vegas Metro Police said they believe the shooting took place at roughly 2:40 am, and initial reports suggested it was a “completely random” incident, noting that they do not believe the famous musician was targeted, according to TMZ.
Lee’s representative said he is now responsive and doing well following the incident, although he currently remains in intensive care inside an unspecified Las Vegas hospital, according to TMZ.
It is believed that he will fully recover from his injuries.
The authorities are currently still investigating the shooting, and have not identified any suspects at this time. No arrests have been carried out, according to TMZ.
Lee is best known for playing with Ozzy Osbourne between 1982 and 1987. He took over the place of the late Randy Rhoads, then went on to become a member of the heavy metal band Badlands with Ray Gillen. Lee also released music as a solo artist. Lee was part of Osbourne’s band during the release of “Bark at the Moon,” and “The Ultimate Sin.”
Osbourne issued a statement upon hearing of the incident that struck his former bandmate.
“It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him today,” Osbourne told TMZ.
“It’s just another senseless act of gun violence.”
Osbourne took a moment to send well wishes for a speedy recovery. (RELATED: El Taiger Succumbs To His Injuries After Reportedly Being Shot In The Head)
“I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be ok,” he told TMZ.
