Peru’s congress conducts hearing on alleged extraterrestrial ‘Nazca mumm

Peruvian Congressman Germán Tacuri, a member of the Bloque Magisterial party and the Culture Commission, organized a public hearing titled “Three-Digit Beings of Nazca” in the Congress of the Republic of Peru to discuss the possible existence of extraterrestrials and the ‘tridactyl mummies’ or ‘humanoids’ discovered in Nazca.

The hearing aimed to “determine the veracity of perhaps the most important finding in history: the tridactyl beings found between Nazca and Palpa,” according to Jaime Maussan, a Mexican television presenter who has dedicated the last decade to demonstrating the existence of extraterrestrial beings. Maussan, known for his controversial presentations of supposed non-human corpses in the Mexican Congress in 2023, announced on social media that at the hearing, a study will be presented about the “three-fingered beings” found in the Nazca and Palpa regions. He invited his followers to join the discussion in the Peruvian Congress.

Congressman Tacuri has insisted three times on carrying out the public hearing on extraterrestrials. He explained he insisted on holding this hearing in the Peruvian Legislative Palace because he considers it “a place where all opinions must be debated,” and stated that all opinions, both in favor and against, will be respected. When consulted by the press, he defended the public hearing, affirming that “the Congress must be a space where all opinions can be heard.” Tacuri added that, although he is not a scientist, he hopes that experts will participate to provide their analyses and assess the veracity of the findings regarding these supposed tridactyl beings.

“I went to the University of Ica and I could see, let’s say, the beings,” he stated. Tacuri indicated that his intention is not only to support this theory but also to promote tourism in the southern region of Peru. “What interests me is to strengthen a tourist corridor… that these beings have their place of exhibition,” he explained to Canal N.

Tacuri and his fellow party member Paul Gutiérrez traveled to Mexico to participate in the second public hearing for the regulation of unidentified anomalous phenomena, organized by the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico. Both parliamentarians were invited by federal deputy Sergio Carlos Gutiérrez Luna. According to Gutiérrez Luna, the trip served to gather more information on the topic, as “in Peru, investigations are being carried out on the mummies and lines of Nazca.”

However, the authenticity of the so-called tridactyl mummies has been widely disputed by the scientific community. In January 2023, the Institute of Forensic Legal Medicine of the Public Ministry of Peru conducted an expert examination of two small mummies of supposed extraterrestrial origin that were seized at Jorge Chávez International Airport. The examination revealed that the pieces were false, according to forensic expert Flavio Estrada Moreno. Estrada Moreno explained that one of the skulls belongs to a quadruped mammal from planet Earth and that the bodies are made up of bird bones. It was discovered that the elements are joined with modern synthetic glue, disproving their supposed pre-Hispanic origin. The study concluded that these bodies are “constructions of very high quality.”

The doctor and anthropologist Guido Lombardi, an expert in Peruvian mummies and author of The Handbook of Mummy Studies (2021), qualified Jaime Maussan’s recent presentation as “part of an elaborate disinformation project.”

“You cannot forge a reality that does not exist. They try to deceive the public and the scientific community. In recent years, they have tried to stretch the story to the maximum to profit from it until this house of cards falls,” he said.

Lombardi has highlighted that the case of the so-called “three-fingered mummies of Nazca” reveals the growing practice of huaqueo in Peru. Huaqueo refers to the illegal excavation of pre-Hispanic tombs to extract human remains and artifacts. There has been evidence of the manipulation of authentic mummies to create figures with an alien appearance, leading treasure hunters to seek more bones to create new mummies for sale.

It has been documented that to a pre-Hispanic adult-sized mummy, two fingers were amputated from the hands and feet to simulate a three-fingered structure, and additional phalanges were added to elongate the extremities. These alterations seek to give a non-human appearance to the remains, constituting a distortion of Peru’s cultural heritage.

Despite these findings, Congressman Tacuri remains convinced of the authenticity of the mummies. “The extraterrestrial mummies of Nazca are real,” he stated. When questioned about the scientific evidence disproving the mummies’ authenticity, Tacuri said, “You’re asking the wrong questions; it’s not about believing or not in the veracity of the mummies; it’s about having the preparation, knowledge, and wisdom to realize that they are authentic. If they aren’t real, why would a person or a group of people take the trouble to construct them in such detail? Why would someone do that? Why would someone spend so much time trying to deceive the scientific community?”

There is concern that such events could be exploited for financial gain by those promoting the mummies. Tacuri dismissed these concerns, emphasizing his commitment to advancing the discussion. “I don’t care what others think, whether they are human or extraterrestrial. The event is going to happen anyway, and it will be held in the Congress of the Republic,” he declared.
