Pittsburgh got their guy!
The University of Pittsburgh has hired a veteran in Allen Greene to become their next athletic director, according to an announcement Friday from the school.
Before taking the gig at Pitt, Greene was the senior deputy director and chief operating officer for the University of Tennessee, and previously, he was the athletic director for both Auburn and Buffalo. He also has other work experience that includes a seven-year run at Notre Dame and two stints with Ole Miss. (RELATED: Rich Get Richer As Elite 5-Star DT Elijah Griffin Commits To Georgia)
Starting his new job Nov. 1, he’s taking the keys from Heather Lyke, who was fired by Pitt in September.
“I am inspired by the storied history of Pitt Athletics and am fully dedicated to helping our Panthers reach even greater heights in the future,” said Greene in an official statement. “I am looking forward to meeting and working on behalf of Pitt’s student-athletes, coaches, staff and campus leaders.”
One of the top reasons, if not the top one, for Pittsburgh to make the move at athletic director was to increase revenue. With Greene having solid experience when it comes to football, finances, fundraising and NIL, the Panthers found exactly who they were looking for.
