A small aircraft made an unexpected landing at one of the most exclusive golf courses in Los Angeles Friday afternoon, after failing to complete a safe landing at Santa Monica Airport.

The plane, which was carrying three people, was forced to make an emergency landing just after 1 p.m. on the fairways of Riviera Country Club, a private golf course located in the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood, KTLA reported. Officials confirmed that all three occupants escaped uninjured. (RELATED: ‘Unruly’ And ‘Intoxicated’ Passengers Banned From Major Airline After Causing Emergency Landing)

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, emergency crews from both L.A. and Santa Monica rushed to the 1200 block of Capri Drive following reports of the landing. The aircraft came to a stop without causing any injuries or significant damage on the ground, though an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board is now underway.

The Riviera Country Club is no ordinary patch of grass. The course has hosted numerous high-profile PGA Tour events and is slated to serve as the official venue for golf during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Photos and footage from the scene showed the aircraft resting in the middle of the course, a surreal image set against the manicured greens typically reserved for the world’s top golfers.

Further details about the aircraft’s emergency landing were not immediately available.
