What on earth was he thinking?
21-year-old Jax Ulbrich, the son of ex-interim New York Jets head coach and current Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, has been identified as one of the prank callers who trolled NFL Draft prospect Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) while he was waiting for a team to call him.
And to make matters worse for Jeff, in particular, he witnessed his organization apologize over the actions of his son.
Jax and his friends made a phone call to Sanders, with one of them acting like they were New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, telling Sanders that he would have to “keep waiting longer.”
“It’s been a long wait, man,” said one of Jax’s friends. “We’re going to take you with our next pick, man, but you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer, man. Sorry about that.” (RELATED: No, Shedeur Sanders’ Historic NFL Draft Slide Isn’t Because Of Race, And It’s Preposterous To Think Otherwise)
Footage making the rounds on social media caught the scene when Sanders was pranked.
Taking to Instagram, Jax apologized with the Falcons releasing a statement of their own, giving confirmation that Jeff will not be receiving any punishment. Jax got Shedeur’s number by getting it off a contact information list that his dad had on his iPad.
“On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake,” read Jax’s statement. “Shedeur, what | did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful.
“I’m so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment. Thank you for accepting my call earlier today, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. @shedeursanders”

And then it all ends with him being drafted by Cleveland… What a rough experience.
