The president has spoken and the players are ready to go!

We’re going to have a head-on-head collision Thursday night when it comes to sports and politics clashing in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off championship game between the United States and Canada.

Originally, the 4 Nations Face-Off was meant to be an exhibition international tournament prior to the 2026 Olympics that NHL players will be a part of. However, it’s turned into so much more with USA-Canada being an intense hockey rivalry, a championship being up for grabs and political tension between the two countries.

The U.S. and Canada have gone back and forth with threats of tariffs, with Trump also gloriously throwing into the fire over and over again that our neighbors up north should be America’s 51st state. Just like Thursday night, as Trump said in a Truth Social post that Canada should become No. 51 as he wished good luck to the United States hockey team.

“I’ll be calling our great American Hockey Team this morning to spur them on towards victory tonight against Canada,” said Trump, who won’t be at the game due to meetings planned with governors in Washington D.C. “We will all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau would like to join us, he would be most welcome.”

When Thursday morning rolled around, Trump delivered on that promise as he spoke with the team for five minutes.

And Trump’s message, it was quite clear per United States defenseman Brock Faber: “Just have fun, enjoy it. It was pretty quick, but just enjoy the pride of wearing the red, white and blue.”

Y’all ready to win that gold tonight?! … Let’s go!
