You probably don’t know Jacob Chansley by name, but you certainly know the guy who walked into the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, in a fur-trimmed Viking helmet and face paint.
Derisively dubbed the “QAnon Shaman” by hostile media, the name nevertheless stuck. But Chansley certainly doesn’t seem to care, now that he’s been issued a pardon by President Donald Trump and released from his prison sentence that nearly three and a half years. All he wants to do is, “BUY SOME MOTHA FU*KIN GUNS.”
I JUST GOT THE NEWS FROM MY LAWYER…
I GOT A PARDON BABY!
THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP!!!NOW I AM GONNA BUY SOME MOTHA FU*KIN GUNS!!!
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
J6ers are getting released & JUSTICE HAS COME…
EVERYTHING done in the dark WILL come to light! pic.twitter.com/g9pwc7v9EQ— Jake Angeli-Chansley (@AmericaShaman) January 21, 2025
He brought Jan. 6 enthusiasm to X, thanking President Trump and declaring his love of the country. While felons aren’t typically allowed to own firearms, Trump’s pardon (rather than commutation) means Chansley is in good legal standing to once again bear arms. Go to that gun show, my guy; go wild. This is everything libs fear most, two neuroses in one: fear of inanimate guns and revulsion toward rabble-rousing populists. But for all their talk of “restorative justice” and “abolishing prisons,” their empathy only seems to extend to likely recidivists.
The violent career criminal who’s been arrested and released dozens of times because progressive DAs won’t press charges is sure to re-offend and make life miserable (and dangerous) for regular people. Yet libs are perfectly happy to watch that wagon go round and round. Meanwhile, good luck finding a New York Times reader who believes the QAnon Shaman deserves a second chance.
But does anyone really believe he’s going to something illegal, let alone violent, again? He seems like a far safer bet than libs usually gamble on; this seems to be a man who truly loves his country and is just happy to be free. After years of legal trauma, the Shaman is likely hanging up his hat — and staying far away from the U.S. Capitol.
