While a high school softball team is headed to the Minnesota state championship thanks to a transgender athlete, OutKick has obtained an email that was allegedly sent by the athletic director of the opposing squad, seemingly telling parents to stay silent on the topic.
Issued by Jason Elias, who is both the athletic director and assistant principal of Eagan High School, the email was sent to parents prior to the school‘s quarterfinal square-off against Champlin Park and their transgender pitcher Marissa Rothenberger, according to OutKick. Rothenberger wasn’t named in the reported email. (RELATED: Transgender Dominates At Pitching, Hitting To Punch Softball Team’s Tickets To Minnesota State Championship)
“There may be added attention surrounding our game, and it’s important that we represent our team and school with class and integrity,” Elias reportedly wrote. “We ask that families avoid engaging in conversations or commentary about other teams … To maintain a positive and unified atmosphere, we are asking that no political messages, signs, or shirts be brought to or displayed at the game.”
The email finished up with Elias telling families to stay focused on the “athletes and their hard work.”
