The Bulldogs don’t rebuild, they reload — that’s evident here.
Elijah Griffin, an elite five-star defensive tackle who was ESPN’s No. 1 uncommitted recruit in the Class of 2025, announced his commitment Friday to the University of Georgia over Miami and USC. Griffin’s late-cycle recruitment was considered one of the most crucial in the entire nation, and now the saga has come to an end seven weeks prior to the early signing period’s beginning. Griffin, a Savannah, Georgia native who is a dominant force in the interior, is ranked in the 2025 ESPN 300 as the No. 5 overall recruit in the nation and also the top defensive tackle.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, Griffin was originally expected to carry on his recruitment and extend it to the Dec. 4 kickoff of the early signing period. However, after paying a recent visit to Athens that saw the Bulldogs get a 41-31 victory against Mississippi State, Griffin decided to commit to Georgia.
