Long before Americans knew not to trust legacy media, three innocent college athletes were tried in the court of public opinion.
Race hoaxes, critical race theory (CRT), and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) have become household terms thanks to the role the media has played in advancing these racist ideologies into everyday life. However, when exotic dancer Crystal Mangum accused three Duke University lacrosse players of gang rape in 2006, Americans had little reason to distrust the media storm that surrounded the incident.
The accuser in the Duke lacrosse rape hoax finally admits it was all a lie, 18 years later.
Don’t forget that the press peddled “fantastic lies” simply because those lies fit into their favored narratives about race in America, or that a crooked prosecutor hid exculpatory… pic.twitter.com/CrfBTjiHMf

David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann were ensnared in the all-encompassing media storm that portrayed these young men as privileged white male athletes accused of brutally raping a black woman. A collection of Duke professors, called the “Group of 88,” used the media coverage to further the race hoax with an advertisement put in a university newspaper referring to the allegations as a “social disaster.” One professor expressed himself in a letter to the university’s administration. “How is a Duke community citizen to respond to such a national embarrassment from under the cloud of a ‘culture of silence’ that seeks to protect white, male, athletic violence and which apparently prevents all university citizens from even surveying the known facts? How can one begin to answer the cardinal question: What have Duke and its leadership done to address this horrific, racist incident alleged to have occurred in a university-owned property in the presence of members of one of its athletic teams?” the professor wrote.
“[W]here is the black woman who their violence and raucous witness injured for life? Will she ever sleep well again?”
There were 88 Duke Professors who signed a declaration condemning those lacrosse players. Who were they? Link follows. https://t.co/C1ioUg6qYO

“How many more people of color must fall victim to violent, white, male, athletic privilege before coaches who make Chevrolet and American Express commercials, athletic directors who engage in Miss Ophelia-styled ‘perfectly horrible’ rhetoric, higher administrators who are salaried at least in part to keep us safe, and publicists who are supposed not to praise Caesar but to damn the unconscionable … how many?” he added.
The fix was in. The media ran nighttime specials and exclusives about the “racist white” lacrosse players who allegedly brutalized an innocent black woman. These young men lived in a horrific time loop of character assassinations until they were ultimately found innocent at trial when the prosecution’s case against them fell apart.
Since Duke Lacrosse is in the news…
It’s important to remember the Only 1 person who defend them in Public At the time…

However, nothing has changed in the 18 years since this race/rape hoax captured the ratings-hungry media class. Americans watched as they cheered cities burning during the George Floyd riots, promoted Jussie Smollett’s “this is MAGA country” beating story and, just this past month, blamed racism and sexism as Americans voted to elect Donald Trump. In reality, Evans, Finnerty and Seligmann were lucky to have fought their allegations in 2006 and not the present day. The way the media has turned racial tensions into overdrive, it’s hard to imagine an innocent verdict coming out of a 2024 courtroom.
Mangum, who is currently in prison for murdering her boyfriend, admitted in a Thursday interview with the “Let’s Talk with Kat” podcast that she lied about what happened. She claimed she wanted validation from outside sources.
Will we hear an apology from the Duke professors who smeared these three young men as violent white racists? Or from the media class who portrayed them in the same light?
Of course, we won’t. They will never have to answer for what they did to tear this country apart along racial lines or assassinate the character of innocent men because the media is broken. It runs to promote left-wing causes, and anything that could upset their purpose is ignored or dismissed.
